Training Course for the detection and resolution of Existential Fears: The Fear Control Framework
THE EXISTENTIAL FEARS:
Every person faces different 'Fears' on a daily basis.
The greatest danger is not so much the fear itself, but ignoring its intrusion and the negative influence it can have on every daily choice.
Therefore, having a good basic awareness of one's fears is essential for both counteracting and resolving them.
It is interesting, at the beginning of a Coaching path (but I would say at the beginning of any path aiming at personal evolution), to propose filling in the Existential Fears Checklist to the Coachee.
I devised this form in 2000 after obtaining my flight licence (PPL) and having understood the importance of constant observation and evaluation of flight indicators and the parameters they express.
Obviously human beings are much more complex than any machine, but clarifying personal perceptions of one's own fears can be of great help in avoiding generalisation errors on the part of the Coach and stress on the part of the Coachee.
THE COMPILATION OF THE FEAR CONTROL FRAMEWORK IS VERY SIMPLE:
The sheet is divided into 24 quadrants, each drawn with 3 Sectors:
1. Green Arc
2. Yellow Arc
3. Red Arc
In Green Arc (0 to 30), a Fear is perceived to be slight and not intrusive on everyday choices and decisions.
In Yellow Arc (40 to 60), a Fear is perceived in a way that is significant enough to be noticed and has variable influence on everyday choices and decisions.
In Red Arc (from 70 to 100), a Fear is perceived in such a serious and heavy way that it will inevitably have a negative influence on any choice or decision, personal or professional. In fact: it will exclusively be 'Fear that makes the decisions' and it needs to be stopped as soon as possible!
