Books for Students in Training
One day in the early 1980s, one of my first Lecturer in Clinical Hypnosis, said to me:
"...If a person comes into your office with a problem to solve, first of all check whether he is an inwardly happy or unhappy person. If he is a basically happy person, deal immediately with the problem he presents to you. But if he is an unhappy person, first of all deal with his unhappiness, of whatever nature it may be, even if it is different from the causes of the problem to be solved".
Many years later Jeffrey Zeig, President of the Milton H. Erickson Foundation, wrote on a book I had purchased the dedication:
"...Personalize the message for the heart"...
These two events have always focused my attention on the importance of including a part of the heart in everything we do and also in our work. Especially if it is work directed in any way to the "helping relationship".
In every book I have written, next to the mind that writes, there is always a "Heart Able to Listen”.
